Off To Prescott We Go

Last Sunday the kids and I went to Prescott, Az to visit Gramma and Grampa for four days.  I have to admit it was my first road trip, alone with the kids.  The three and a half hour drive, all by myself, with both kids intimidated me a bit.  Dave had been with me on every other road trip we have taken.  The last road trip we took was to Show-low to visit my dad at his new cabin.  Kessler threw up every 45 minutes the entire ride home.  It was terrible.  So that being said... I didn't decide to go until Sunday morning around 9 am and we left at 11 am.  We got all packed up and hit the road with the computer propped up in the middle of both kids with a movie already playing.  I had snacks, books, and toys within reach so I could easily and safely hand them something to keep them entertained if they got bored.  The kids did awesome!!  It was mom who had to stop about 1 hour outside of Prescott for a potty break (pregnancy does that to me).  The kids could have kept rolling.

I was so thankful that I braved up and left for this adventure.  We had a blast with Gramma and Grampa.  Callie got to go on an ice cream date with Grampa and Kessler a dounut date.  Mom and I even got a little ice cream date ourselves.  We played in the yard, went hiking at Thumb Butt, went on many walks to see the "chickens" (small chicken, duck and goose coop by my mom's house), and played for hours with the cool toys Gramma buys for the kids.  We even took a little trip to Costco where Callie got to pick out a new tutu dress and Kessler a new outfit.  Grampa woke up with the kids so I could sleep in (or at least lay in bed dreaming about sleeping in).  Thank you Gramma and Grampa for making it such a fun place to come visit.  We love spending time with you guys and the kids always miss you so much when we have to leave you!!!  I am so glad that we came.  Here are a few pictures of our time.

Snuggles with Grampa after bath time or as Kessler calls him "Pwampa."

There is no getting between Callie and her shows.  She is dead to the world when they are on.

Kessler on the other hand watches for 2 minutes and promptly lets you know that he is "done, done, done."

Getting ready for our hike.  Look at my belly.

Kessler was so focused when he was hiking.  He hiked for more then 20 minutes  straight up the mountain.  He was a little trooper.

He also wouldn't let you hold his hand on the way down.  He is definitely Mr. Independent right now.

Sitting on the big rocks with Grampa

They both wanted to climb every big rock we came to.  Let's just say it was a leisurely hike considering  my condition and the fact that neither kid was carried (except Kess for about 10 minutes by Gramma).

There is Thumb Butt.  We didn't make it to the top but had a blast anyway.

I love this picture and I love this girl.  I think she is going to be just like her mama,, loving to be active in the outdoors.
