I can't believe this day is finally here. Dave has officially started the police academy this week. This is a new phase in our life that will literally change our lives in a major way. The night before day one of the academy Dave could not stop fist pumping the air. He was so excited he couldn't concentrate at the task at hand (pack your bag, iron your clothes). He was scattered and all over the place. Although I didn't first pump the air all night, I was super excited for him. He was made for this kind of stuff. My husband is fierce, a side that many people don't know.
He got up bright and early on Monday morning (5 a.m to be exact). I woke up with him that morning but do not plan on doing that too often. After a shower, breakfast, and a last minute bag check he was out the door in his "penguin suit." The penguin suit is the outfit they have to wear until they earn their uniform. They call it a penguin suit because it is black and white like a penguin. On day two the drill instructors had them belly crawling, doing push-ups, and running towers dressed in their "penguin suit." What a ride it was been already and we are only on day 2. I am so proud of Dave and all that he will accomplish in these next 22 weeks. He is going to be one fine looking officer in that Tucson Police Department uniform.

| Dave trying on his uniform the night before his first day of the academy. The class has to earn wearing their uniform to the academy. He probably won't put this on again until week 5 or 6. |
 |
| This is his PT gear and hat that he always has to wear so everyone knows he is a "recruit." |

| The morning of Day One!! This is the "penguin suit" with gym shoes that he will be living in for the next month or so. He got yelled at today for having yellow shoe laces in his shoes. Good thing they came with gray ones as well. |
