I have to admit, Christmas was not that much of a priority this year. With Kylah and I getting home from the hospital on December 5 and adjusting back to our "new normal" life, I was overwhelmed with the thought of it all. My house was a mess after leaving so quickly on November 21st and not returning till December 5th. We still had Callie's birthday decorations up and unopened presents scattered about our house. Not to mention the clutter that collects when you live in chaos for two weeks straight and are just struggling to put clothes on in the morning. All that to say, the thought of getting Christmas decorations out and get more toys to clutter up the already overflowing toy box seemed daunting. I had several friends come over to help me de-clutter and organize my house before I could even begin to pull out Christmas decorations. What a blessing!!! After that, I could begin thinking about the Christmas season….Christ's birth. Despite the chaos leading up to Christmas, it was the best Christmas I have ever had. I had my husband and all three of my children to celebrate with. My Kylah was alive to see her first Christmas!!!!
What a day it was. We woke up at 6 a.m. to open stockings and gifts with Dave before he left for work at 6:30 a.m. After he left, we got ready and headed to my dad's house for Christmas breakfast and presents. We napped there and headed back home to get ready for my dad to come to our house for our traditional Mexican Christmas dinner. Yummy!!! Lots of eating involved. Dave got home just in time to eat and lay the kids down for bed. Dave and I fell asleep around 9 p.m. while watching "Christmas Vacation."
My heart was overwhelmed with thankfulness throughout the day. Thankful for my savior Jesus, who was sent to Earth to die for my sins, thankful that my Kylah was alive to see her first Christmas, thankful for my incredible family that had been such a support to me during the most trying season of my life, and thankful for how so many people blessed our family this Christmas with money, gifts, love, support and encouragement. What a JOY!!!
